What a wonderful time of the year, Christmas. So many
thoughts go through our minds; those
special thoughts, more than likely, take us back to our
childhood.
It is only through the eyes of a child that we can
understand the true meaning of Christmas; that
of anticipation, excitement and joy during this most
holy time of the year. These feelings stay
with us throughout our adult years. One lesson we learn
from Christmas is that giving brings us
far more joy than receiving.
It is ironic that this heartfelt time of the year can
also bring a great deal of sadness and loneliness
to too many people around us. It could be the homeless,
a child that does not receive a gift, a
senior citizen who has become a shut-in or it could be a
soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan who is
separated from their family and friends.
This community is blessed with a vast diversity in
religions and faiths. This is the foundation of a
community that has hope. We come back to these
fundamental beliefs that make us, individually
and collectively, that much stronger.
We would like to encourage you to make that special
effort during this holiday season to reach
out to those you see in despair; a simple hug or a
smile, wishing somebody a Merry Christmas or
giving a gift to a child that can mean so much.
This can also be a stressful time of the year because we
all seem to take on more than we can
handle. Pace yourself; if you become edgy, step back and
reflect; there will always be many things
which remain undone.
Set reasonable goals and objectives and stay busy
helping others. Try to stay within your means, it
is not the value of a gift, but the thought of giving
that gives real meaning. This is also a time of
the year that we are tempted to over-do it; drink in
moderation, try not to overeat and make sure
you well-rested.
On behalf of the staff and management of _______ , we
want to wish you a most joyous and
peaceful holiday season. You, the listener, mean so much
to us and we’d like to thank you for
listening in over the past years and God Bless these
Virgin Islands.
